My (so far) only Pearl Jam gig. A few things that struck me:
During Corduroy, Ed says "can't be what I want because it's peace YEAH?!" It was that last word that I didn't remember. It sounds like he's talking to someone in the crowd. He says something on safety after the song. I wonder if he saw some sort of fight or something.
I always thought Small Town started with acoustic, but I'm sure at the time I remember it starting with electric. Yet on the CD, the start sounds acoustic. I guess it's a case of the things people with money can do with guitars
People cheer far more times during Betterman than I remember, and I can't hear the boos.
There are string sounds during Just Breathe. Was it Boom? I don't remember seeing any orchestra.
Red Mosquito sounds like you can hear distorted and acoustic backing and 2 slides at one point. I'm sure I remember Ed not playing for that one.
So the main lesson is, never trust my memory

He's said that a bunch of times throughout the years.

Most pointless PJ show I was ever at.
pointless?
we only knew what the band were playing because of what the crowd were singing. Sound was terrible and the band were tiny dots on a stage that was a rumour we heard about, but couldnt really see..and we were halfway up. never doing big shows like that again.

I cant recall a live version since the war where he didnt say that instead of the real lyrics.

I was up the front for this and there weren't any strings. Didn't Ben Harper join for RM which would explain the 3 guitars?
Eddie sounded bad and it was such a let down after an amazing performance at the O2 in the previous year. The set list was horrible. It didn't feel much like a Pearl Jam show, there was no atmosphere and felt like a major cash in on their part.

Cheers to one and all for the replies, I'll try to remember everything. re:Corduroy, I've got the Perth and Tokyo boots from 03, were they before the war? I can't remember. I've seen RM on youtube and Eddie doesn't play. Strange I thought I could hear 4 guitars Gotta feel sorry for people who were so far back. Maybe they need to sell less tickets for these events. Look at the Astoria - tiny but bands play there 3 nights in a row to make up for it. Was a bit wide as well as long. I wouldn't swap it for seating, maybe standing arenas is the way to go. Looks like someone on the tour thread might be right about Small Town being played to slow things down. I thought otherwise until I realised it came just after Ed said "we don't wanna play any slow songs just yet". The weird thing about Just Breathe is I didn't even hear the strings at the time. Then again, when he slagged the redneck off I thought he was asking us if what he said was bad. I can't believe how well we done to be where we were. We caught as much of Gomez as we could before the start, so it's a mystery.
