Is it that bad? What does that come to, like $5.50 for a 12oz beer? Seems like an average price for major city. Granted they're probably buying it for pennies on the dollar.
You're right, 5.50 for a beer isn't that bad for an event like this. A non-festival show usually begins a 30 pack tailgate in a parking lot to lay the foundation so that when your actually paying $5.50 a beer you're more in the "maintain" drunk/buzzed mode. I guess I was more referring to getting drunk and staying drunk for the length of the festival.

Considering Jay Z is truly the only rap artist I thoroughly enjoy and whose actual music I respect, that was fucking amazing. The rarity aspect of it added to that fact, easily made it the best part of the show for me.
But to give all due credit, that was also the best version of Betterman I've ever heard.

I have no problem with someone saying Jay Z is the only rap artists whose music they enjoy, but you honestly can't think of any other rap artist whose music you respect?

There are others, albeit very few, his is the only stuff I enjoy. (i don't like Drake, lil Wayne etc.). I kind of enjoy Kanye, but there's really no one else I like. And in terms of respect, I do respect many artists from pre-2000 and especially many of the original rappers and DJs. The respect comment was more in regards to still active artists.

GZA's "Liquid Swords" would be a great place to start to expand your mind.

You sound like every other white kid who's afraid of rap music for some reason.

have you heard the song before? its not misogynistic or anything. or do you just object to the word "bitch"?
The use of "bitch" to insult a weak, emasculated male is just as misogynistic as if you referred to a woman as "bitch." It's the same as using "gay" to refer to something as stupid.
That being said, I love the collaboration. I'm just surprised they didn't collaborate on something more innocuous like H.O.V.A. Maybe they tried and Jay-Z wouldn't go for it. Who knows.

Damn Skitch. We get you are pissed you didn't go.
As for this particular collaboration, it's unique for Pearl Jam, and remember the JayZ/LP collaboration was a commercial team up to sell records, not a one-off done for the fans of both acts. Now, I agree it's somewhat not innovative because it's basically a live performance of the Rick Rubin mix of 99 Problems and not an original re-work of the music, but I thought it was a great surprise amidst a setlist that looks like it was written by a 90's station DJ.
its kinda funny watching him try to convince people this wasnt cool.
it was pretty damn awesome for a number of reasons. first probably being the actual music of the whole thing. they played a badass full version of WMA, bring Jay Z out for 99 problems, then go right into free world. 99 problems sounded tight, and i liked ed screwing around on w the ebow. the songs are sorta similar in subject matter too. the "wow factor" is also part of it. who ever thought pearl jam and jay z would play together? and lets be real about linkin park, i know its cool to put pj down here, but they couldnt hold pearl jam's jock. 10 years ago they were papa roach. i know jay z also performed the song w/ phish, and i dont really like phish, but they are way more respectable than linkin park.
look at it this way: Jay Z is one of the most respected and successful rap artists of all time. Pearl Jam is gonna be in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame. And they played together. Even if you weren't there, i dunno how how you dont think thats cool.

I kinda of remember Eddie singing "skinny little bitch" before anyway.
eddie is a misogynist. where's B?
That explains one verse of 3. I'm hard pressed to believe that the third verse isn't about a guy "being a bitch."

And Courtney Love's Skinny Little Bitch is, what? an autobiographical self flogging via song? I'm not sure what it means for Ed to cover that.
