How many bands have performed 99 Problems with Jay-z in the last 10 years? 20? 30?
Why is that important?? to prove PJ isn´t big nowadays? just another one in the list?
Because some of you are acting like this is something special, when like I said, Linkin Park did this a decade ago. Hey look, competent musicians can be the backing band for someone that's actually relevant!
For someone at the show, this was special...it probably won't ever happen again...for the rest of us it's cool because it's not the usual PJ guest appearance (Cornell, Harper, Young etc) and it's something entirely different from the norm...and hasn't one of the things everyone's been bitching about these last few tours been "the norm?"
As for bringing up Linkin Park doing this, that actually could have been expected, since they had a hip hop element to them...no one was expecting this last night...

Skitch, I feel like you're arguing with no one. VinylGuy maybe, but even he isn't saying this is some pivotal moment in the history of music.
im not arguing either, and yeah i didn´t said this was meant to change anything..in the context of pj ( and recent pj tours, which mos people here don´t like because its always the same) , it is a really cool moment.

But it's not strange. It's not innovative, and frankly, it's not cool.
Damn Skitch. We get you are pissed you didn't go.
As for this particular collaboration, it's unique for Pearl Jam, and remember the JayZ/LP collaboration was a commercial team up to sell records, not a one-off done for the fans of both acts. Now, I agree it's somewhat not innovative because it's basically a live performance of the Rick Rubin mix of 99 Problems and not an original re-work of the music, but I thought it was a great surprise amidst a setlist that looks like it was written by a 90's station DJ.
