You can hear them a little more clearly in this one I think.

I wish Matt did that big snare build up during the breakdown. That's the highlight of the song.

Still sounds empty.

It does!

I just listened to the studio version and I can see what you're saying. I still think that live version sounded pretty cool though.

It's frustrating because I love the song.

It's like, where's the fuzz?

Also, even in the live version, I swear Ed is saying "guess those fellationships ain't my thing".

Perhaps a nicely mixed boot will make you feel better.

Maybe. But that won't help the fact that it's only performed well for the first verse.

Yeah, I'm sure dimejinky's opinion of a Pearl Jam concert in the moment is entirely objective and not swayed by any emotion.

That's not entirely true.

I can confirm. I was at night 2, sitting right in front of the soundboard, and it was easily the worst sounding concert I've ever attended. Total shit. Like trying to hear a boombox across the grand canyon.

I'll be honest with myself, I definitely gave them passes that night in the moment due to the emotion. But there were definitely plenty of songs that were performed so badly that I remember sitting their shaking my head. No Way comes to mind especially. I was so excited to finally get to see it live and I couldn't enjoy it.

It's actually a vicious cycle Pearl Jam have gotten themselves into. The more I notice them performing poorly at a show, the less excited I am to see a show. The less excited I am to see a show, the less likely I am to not notice a poor performance. They've destroyed any benefit of the doubt they might have once had.

And I miss the harmonies, too.

The bootlegs magnify the crappiness of the performance ten-fold. I don't understand how anybody can listen to show #3 and say that it's one of their greatest performances. It just boggles my mind.

Oh for sure.
