Do you have a show you went to that you wish you could trade in for another show on that tour? I am satisfied with most of the shows I've seen, but a few make me wish I could go back in time.
How about just one per post. What was your show? Why do you wish you could trade it in? What show would you have liked to attend instead, and why?
My show: Toledo, 2004.
I'm trading it because I drove 12 hours one way to see Pearl Jam, not Neil Young. I know a lot of people revere this show because of Neil; I'm just not one of them. I'd be happy with it if he came out for RITFW to end the show, but he came out and took over for the last 5 songs. That left me with 16 Pearl Jam songs. Previous to Neil mincing out on stage, the band did the acoustic encore. I knew it was coming and I was excited. They'd been playing tracks like Masters of War, Man of the Hour, and Parting Ways. Toledo got Thumbing My Way, Elderly Woman, and Black. Of the rest of the set, 3 were covers and except for Long Road and Cropduster, the rest were the singles and big hits. It was an angry night at the bar, a restless sleep in a shitty Toledo hotel, and a sullen 12 hour drive back to Minnesota.
The show I wish I had gone to instead: St. Louis, 2 shows later. Not only did Neil not show up, but the band played my favorite track, Immortality (which I've only seen once in 27 shows - fuck anyone who uses this as a place to tell me how fortunate I am to have seen them 27 times), as well as Alone and All or None, two songs I still haven't seen to this day. In My Tree was also played at this show, and the opening of LBC > Last Exit > Animal sounds too good to be true.

I was at St. Louis 2004. It was great. I would probably trade that experience for the Neil Young experience you had because I revere the man.
I can think of 2: Trade Chicago 2003 for East Troy 2003. Chicago is easily the worst show I've seen. Ed was sick, the set was really mellow, the encores predictable and East Troy was amazing. And I could only afford 2 shows, so I couldn't go . At least I got "Release", "Light Years" and "Arc" in Chicago.
Trade Philly 4 in 2009 for Philly 3. Philly 4 was fun but a trainwreck. Philly 3 was also a trainwreck, but with a much better setlist.
Pearl Jam shows: Champaign 4/23/2003 Chicago 6/18/2003 St. Louis 10/05/2004 Portland 7/20/2006 Gorge 7/22/2006 Ridgefield 9/26/2009 Philadelphia 10/31/2009

I'd trade Montreal 2005 for Ottawa 2005.
We were lucky enough to see Kitchner, London, Hamilton with someone elses fan club tickets so we were 3rd row or closer each night. We had a great time in Montreal, but headed back to NC for a friends baby shower. After listening to the boot, I really wish we stuck around for Ottawa.
I am really splitting hairs here. That trip was one of the best PJ experiences I have had and I just wish I stuck around for one more show.
ER98 was my first PJ show (a special day) and while it was a very good show this is a no-brainer trade. I couldn't get tickets for either MSG show. I can't imagine being in the Garden for that show. I still rank that one as one of the top 3 shows they've ever played.

Man, fuck Neil Young sometimes, you know.
That St. Louis show was really weak though. No energy in the entire venue nor coming from the stage. At least in my opinion. Sure, if you dont like Neil i get not enjoying the toledo show. For me, it was one of the top concert memories. All along the watchtower is still oone of the greatest concert experiences ive had. So great.
Glad I didnt run into your crusty ass at the bar though!

I'll go by years I went...
Tibetan Freedom Concert, 1998. Wouldn't trade this one.
Greenville, SC 1998. Wouldn't trade this one.
Charlotte 2000. I'd trade for either: Katowice 2, Detroit, or Pittsburgh
Raleigh 2003. I'd trade for Mansfield 3 DC 2003. I'd trade for...not sure. Maybe San Diego? Hershey 2003. I wouldn't trade. I liked pissed off Ed that night. It was fun.
Philly 2006. Wouldn't trade. DC 2006. Trade for a San Fran show or any show in Italy.
DC 2008. I'd trade for Hartford.
Philly 2009. Wouldn't trade. Sloppy performance, fun night though.
DC 2010. I'd trade for Salt Lake City, Portland, or LA 4.

I love that East Rutherford show!
It's been a while since I listened to either, but I think I'd take that setlist over MSG2.
