The sun is not quite as bright today. Goodnight sweet prince.

Home of the best Juicy lucy.

St. Paul fires hit the Nook, furniture repair business

The owners of the popular burger joint on Hamline Avenue said the restaurant is "totaled" but they hope to reopen in a month or two.

The Nook on Hamline Avenue near Randolph Avenue "is totaled," said co-owner Ted Casper, speaking from his eight-lane bowling center in the same block.

The fire began about 3 to 4 a.m., Casper said, adding that no one was in the business at the time.

While there has been no specific cause determined, Casper said he suspects "some kind of cooler malfunction" in the kitchen, which is where most of the damage is located.

Casper and partner Mike Runyon, both 30, have owned the Nook for about 10 years, along with the Ran-Ham Bowling center, both in the 400 block of Hamline Avenue.

Casper estimated that it will be a month or two before the restaurant can reopen.

The Nook was named "Best Neighborhood Spot" in 2009 by Minnesota Monthly, and City Pages in 2008 declared it the winner in the "Battle of the Burgers" and for having the "Happiest Hour."

I saw a Man vs. Food episode where the host was in MN and went to the 5-8 Club and some other spot to determine who had the best Jucy Lucy...I don't remember who won.

Bummer about The Nook, was that a favorite spot of yours? Hope they get it fixed up soon.

5-8 CLUB and Matts.

Thats where they went but the Nook is easily the MN/local favorite. No idea why Matts and 5-8 club gets the attention.

Everyone orders 2 juicy lucy's at Matts. You can physically only eat 1 at the Nook. Also just a better place...

Funny enough..5-8 caught on fire a couple years ago. I think Matt's is on in this....fuckers. I was heading home for xmas and hoping to hit the Nook again :(

Never been there but there is a 24 hour diner (which I cant remember their name) which served burgers. They were the nicest people. I sat and talked to the owners through the night! The place was packed especially at bar close!

I found it FLAMEBURGER.... good stuff and fantastic Onion Rings.

I think thats were I found out I was a chosen one! Something instintually blessed about the Star of David,.... nevermind....

Im the only one who makes bagels for Christmas?
