as do you...I really like the modern...Babbo is a staple as well..going in 2 weeks

Instead of buying each other gifts, on our anniversary, my wife and I pick a new (to us) restaurant to go to. Our first year in the city we picked Babbo. We did the full tasting menu w/ wine pairings. It was immaculate.

nice..where is the next one going to be at?

Not sure yet. We did The Modern in September, so we've got some time to figure it out. I'm still dying to hit up Daniel and Le Bernardin.

That's how I felt at EMP at first. I warmed up to it, but at first... yikes.

Menu looks good. I'd get "Mixed Grill of Domestic Lamb Chop and Sausage, parmesan grits"

Good call. Beale Street is awesome. Their BBQ is really good, some of the best pulled pork I've ever had.

I just tried out my first gastropub in NYC last night. Finally made it to The Spotted Pig (http://thespottedpig.com/). Had the herring, bacon wrapped dates, and the burger.

Damn good. Will definitely return.

I really wanted to like the spotted pig but just cant really do it...I gave it 4 or 5 tries and the food just didnt do it for me...good beers though..plus its just too damn crowded...I still dont see/understand how that place actually got a Michelin star when its a pub?? Glad you had a good time though

I hear what you're saying. I got kind of lucky with the lack of a crowd. Tuesday night, kinda rainy. But, I really did like the food, went nicely with a few Speckled Hens...I thought the burger was better than Corner Bistro's.

I've only been once and it was pretty mellow. But I liked The Spotted Pig. I've been meaning to go back.

Also, I wanted to tell you, I tried a new beer last night at Vandaag. It was a Mikkeller Nelson Sauvin Single Hop. It went really well with my meal. Delicious.

corner bistro is more hype than anything when it comes to the burger..they always cook mine too long..I just dont like the sweet bun they use for the burger at spotted pig..my favorite NYC story about the spotted pig: we were just finishing dinner and the waitress said after you leave Gwyneth Paltrow and a few friends will be taking your table...we ordered another round of drinks to make them wait plus I accidently spilled a glass of beer all over the seat..

Nice. I'm sure you get your fair share of celebrity gawkers there too. And, the waitstaff's hipster attitude is kinda annoying. I can't imagine what that place would be like on a Thurs-Sat night. Regardless, the food and the beer will make me a repeat customer...midweek that is...
