I read Chud's post as indicating that he didn't "get" collard greens, not CFS. I hope that's what he meant, anyway.
I might hang out in this thread until he clears it up for us, Reid.
Until then, we can offer up evidence to support either claim. I'm inclined to think it was collared greens because hasn't he said something about them before?
after re-reading, I'm inclined to agree with you. However, he didn't post anything in this thread saying he does like CFS. I guess I just picture it being one of those commonly loved foods that Pete's delicate taste buds don't like.

I have a bit of a confession to make. I was late to the chicken fried steak party. Like, early/mid twenties late. I grew up in a part of Texas that is much more linked culturally to the deep south than the rest of Texas, and everyone that I was surrounded by let you know it. To me, things like chicken fried steak, hunting/fishing, pickup trucks, etc felt like a southern litmus test of sorts. I would refuse to order it out of some misguided notion that I was effectively denying my innate southeast texan-ness to the world. Instead I would always order liver and onions or something, which in retrospect is laughable for all of it's irony.
Chicken fried steak is one of those meals for me that is a nice surprise. As in "I always forget how good this is, I should order it more often" type thing. Spinach or Collard greens go nicely with this. So do black eyed peas.
I sorta agree on the first part. I'm not sure i'd like it as much if I ate it really often though.

Welcome to the party, friend. CFS is one of those things that is a great fall back if you are at an unfamiliar diner and nothing else looks good.
