Man, this is why you need an interview thread.

I will second the positive opinion on BARs pies. They also taste even better after waiting 90 minutes and guzzling some of their fair brew. Don't take them home though, not worth the effort.

However, I must say that BAR is not the greatest pizza you'll ever have. Nor is it the best pizza in CT or New Haven for that matter. Title of 'Best' stands with Modern Apizza on State, hands down.

Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

But I'm not.

Only you have this power, d,t. You don't need to ask permission from anyone or anything.

My favorite restaurant is a local chain called Chubby's Tacos. Everything is super authentic (even though the owner is just some white dude) and their tacos will fuck your motherfucking shit up. http://www.chubbystacos.com/index.cfm?f ... n&cat_id=2

I usually get two of these 3 fillings in a taco.

Grilled Tilapia
Chicken Tinga
Barbacoa

If you like quesadillas, they make the tortillas on site and they have to use a cafeteria tray to get the giant mother fucking things onto the griddle.

Here's a few I like:

Italian: De Falco's http://www.defalcosdeli.com/
BBQ: Joe's http://joesrealbbq.com/
Indian: Taj Mahal (I've been told by an Indian colleague that this is one of the two best Indian restaurants in Phoenix) http://www.tajmahalaz.com/

And maybe it makes me too touristy, but when I go to NY, I like Carnegie Deli and Terrace Bagels.

Just familiar with Bridgeport unfortunately.
My wife works in Monroe so may have to call and have some taken home. Thanks for the heads up, no shortage of good pies in CT.

This one is quickly climbing the list for me: http://24diner.com/

Open 24 hours, located close the downtown party scene and where I go to school, new beers on draft all the time, and great food. Probably the best meatloaf and waffles I have ever had.

Got a chance to eat at Vito's Chophouse while I was in Orlando. The place really is superb for the money. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area. Amazing steaks, seafood, and pasta with a 1400 bottle wine list.

some of my favorites...

Toro (Boston)
Butcher Shop (Boston)
T.W. Food (Cambridge, MA)
Blackbird (Chicago)
Momofuku (NYC)
Fore Street (Portland, ME)

Going to Jose Andres' minibar in DC next month. I'm sure that will go to the top of the list.
