I've been keeping it pretty basic: Romaine, croutons, some sort of italian cheese (romano mostly) and maybe some onion depending on ability to brush, tomatoes.

gotta have a bit of anchovy in there as well...with or without chicken?

Tomatoes have no business in a caesar salad.

when someone mixes up some greens ahead of time, its not my choice.

the chicken depends on availability. I've never had anchovy before. Ideally it would have some grilled chicken chopped up into it.

actually, if the salad is being eaten as a side, no meat in it. If the salad is the meal, then you need some sort of protein in it.

if you've eaten a lot of caesars you have probably had anchovy in there and not known it

I'm a recent convert and most have been prepared by me, so maybe I am yet to have it. I don't mind most seafood, but it rarely excites me.

most restaurants will just add 1 small one and put it in the blender along with the dressing...try it next time

anchovies are about the saltiest fish there is but with great flavor imo..you can buy them in a jar at any grocery store..they are about 1 inch long

Yeah, in the US, anchovies are typicall encorperated in the dressing. If someone sees an anchove on their salad, they'd complain but putting it in the dressing makes them eat it without knowing.... And they like it.

I thought a caeser salad was no meat or fish, but black olives.

my favorite dressing, which is one we use at work has anchovy paste in it. The more you know...

I had one of these for dinner last night. I usually ask for extra anchovies. They really add a good "bite" to the salad.
