me and the gf just made some awesome steaks out on the grill. I would like to tell you all about them and what else we had, but I can't because this thread is about what I am "eating right now" which is nothing.

this one should have been put out of its misery jason.

There should be a demonstration in protest of the other thread's closing. :x

I haven't had those since I was a kid. Those were the best after playing outside all day in the heat and humidity. The green ones = :li:

Green is great, but so are red and blue. And pink. Purple and orange are always left in the box at the end of the summer.

I never did like the blue one. Orange and purple were my favorites after green. I did like the pink ones as well, but I don't remember if I ate the red ones.

I wish I had read your post before I went to go the grocery store. Now I really, really want some.

I'd mail you some, but they'd re-melt by the time they got there. I wonder if they retain their deliciousness after freezing / defrosting / freezing / defrosting. :?:

Salt and Vinegar Herr's

Athletic Supporter's food sounded great.

When did shrimp become prawns? I think its a west coast thing because when I go out there they are called prawns.

leftover spaghetti and meatballs with some Fortissimo wine. When I'm done I'm gonna eat a lemonade "real fruit" popsicle.

To (sort of) answer your question...

I think, by and large, that we consider those tiny little shrimps that you'd see on a salad to be "shrimp."

The larger ones (ie - breaded with tail on, or big enough to grill on a skewer) would be considered "prawns."

It was awesome.

I'll be more specific for you so you can make it :)

1 lb shrimp/prawns (Bammer was dead on with his definitions)
1 C. broccoli crowns
1 C. snow peas
1/2 C. sliced carrot
1/2 sliced red pepper
1/4 sliced sweet onion
1/2 C. bean sprouts
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ea peanut oil, chili oil, sesame oil
1 tbl sesame oil

SAUCE
2 tbl Hoisin sauce
2 tsp honey
2 tbl Spicy oyster sauce
1 tbl soy sauce
Few dashes of your favorite hot sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
Mix all of this in a bowl.

Thaw prawns and marinate in triple oil mixture and salt and pepper.
1 tbl sesame oil into the wok, medium heat.
Add garlic, onion, and red pepper. Saute until garlic is tan/brown
Add shrimp and vegetables (except bean sprouts)
Saute until veggies start to soften.
Add sauce and mix. Allow moisture from veggies to reduce a bit, maybe 2 minutes. Turn off heat.
Add bean sprouts. (they get mushy and stringy if you cook them too long, so add them last and just let them be warmed by the rest of the food)
You're done.
Took about 15 minutes start to plate :)

I see.....around here they are always called shrimp. From those tiny tiny ones all the way up to the jumbo ones you would cook on a grill.

Awesome, thanks!

I'll try it in the next week.

The only recipe I have that I made up on my own is for a kickass breaded boneless pork chop. I'll post if you're interested.

First, I would like to express my displeasure with the locking of the Last Meal You Ate thread. I'm not eating what I'm about to post at this moment. That being said:

Last night I tried a new recipe. Mixed Vegetable Egg Rolls with Mustard Dipping Sauce. Holy Shit were they good. The dipping sauce especially! It's made of sour cream (this is a low-fat vegetarian recipe book so it calls for fat free, which was really just as good as regular), dijon mustard, honey and fresh cut chives. My mouth is watering at the thought.

I'm not eating right now. I wish there was a thread that would let me post the last thing that I had eaten.
