Saranac Caramel Porter, oddly enough, tastes kind of chocolately.

Delicious.

I've been drinking and tasting all kinds of beer since I was 14-15. We're allowed to drink at 16, but noone really cares. If I would give the main reason why I love my country, this is it. There's so much. There's so incredibly much. People have been writing books and opening websites about our beers.

This is my favorite, kinda heavy, but so good:

As normal beer, I'm voting for this one. You can find it anywhere in the world, I guess:

This is a very special one. The trappist is still made the old way, limited quantity, people go drive up to that abbey and spend the night there to wait until the morning when they start selling them, one crate a car. Unbelievable. It's 10.5 alcohol percentage I think. It's called West-Vleteren, apparently you can't read that on the glasses.
Just to give you an idea:

My favorite non-belgian beer is this one. But it doesn't even come close to our own Belgian beers.

I had a few of these on a recent trip to Porland, ME and loved it. Good recommendation.

good call on some of those B....my kegerator at home has been pouring Sierra Nevada for awhile now...most people seem to enjoy it and as you said, its an easy transition for those who stick with Miller, coors, etc...about once a month I head downtown to a beer specialty store and bring home about 2 cases of mostly odd belgian beers....I've really been into the trappists for awhile now..

I've had a few. My favorite is Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock. It's aged on gormet chocolate. Man, it is fucking awesome. Costs like $15 for a 22oz bottle, but worth every penny.

Where are you going in NC? There's a lot of local breweries making some interesting, new shit since we changed our ABV law.

Angus, Belgian beers are a personal favorite. For some reason, I can't get into Duvel. A lot of what I've tried are Belgian-style brewed in the US.

Anyone finds themselves in Baltimore, there's a French restaurant called, The Brewer's Art. They make their own Belgian style beers that are out of this world: http://www.belgianbeer.com/

Great Lakes Brewery in Cleveland makes a Christmas beer that's Belgian style. It's awesome! Makes me crazy! Sadly, I can't remember the name, and they're a very regional brewery.

My favorite beer is Alaskan Amber. Hard to find, but well worth it.

Their smoked porter is one of my favorite. It's like drinking a beer and eating the best steak you've ever had at the same time! I highly recommend hunting this down. And when you find it ... send me one. I can't get it here.

B, my 4 favorite beers are:

Sam Adams Boston Lager
Bass Ale
Harpoon Summer and Autumn brews
Anything by Magic Hat except some of the mystery brews. Their Saint Gootz brew is prolly my favorite from them or the #9.

What do you recommend from that?

Being in TX it would be blasphemous to not explore the wide array offered by Shiner. Good stuff.

Really? I can find with ease here. I'd think Seattle would be even easier.

I'd recommend you drink more of that. Those are all great beers.

I've never had Magic Hat, I can't get it around here. But Franziskaner makes a good Dunkel Weisse which might be similar to that Saint Gootz.

Try the Sam Adams Summer Ale or the Pyramid Kolsch.

The Hobgoblin I mentioned early might be good for a Bass drinker.

The Autumn ale is tough to recommend on b/c I've never had it and those seasonal beers have a lot of different spices. My favorite beer in the fall is Post Road's pumpkin ale (all other pumpkin ales suck my sack) or wait a little longer and get the Harpoon Winter Warmer.

I've been here: http://www.bottleworks.com/

One of the coolest things, they have a special cooler of aged beers, that are a year or more old and that age really well. It was really cool to pick up some older beers and see how the flavor profile had changed from the most current batches.
