Any thoughts on what the best beer states are?

In no order, I'm thinking:

California

Michigan
North Carolina (yeah, I'm biased)

Countries?

USA, USA, USA

Germany
Belgium
England

I will agree with california at the top but I would add NY to the list as well...I hate that I cant get Brooklyn, sixpoint and even Ithica beers out here

I'll ship you all the Brooklyn you want for some Pliny.

Are we talking availability, or production? Because if you're talking availability, MN might be worth a mention.

Well, if that were the case I'd just find some stats about which state produces the most beer or has the most available. Which states forward the cause of awesome beer?

I have to say Colorado and California promote tasty beer, Michigan is up there. North Carolina seems to be fairly progressive when it comes to beer too.

Seems like the states where marijuana is at least decriminalized seem to have favorable beer laws on the books too.

Leinenkugel's Big Eddy Series Russian Imperial Stout is on tap for tonight. Only 30 cases came into the state of SC, so that means it has to be good, right?

I wish we got Long Trail and Tuckerman almost as much as I wish we got Bell's and Founders.

There's almost too many microbrews to pick from in Colorado.

My local favorite is Bristol's brewery. We go in there quite a bit.

They have Venetucci's special release pumpkin ale every harvest. The problem is that it sells out in one night and the line to get a bomber -or whatever drop that is left of it - is out the door around the corner over the hill and to the moon. I have yet to taste it. Then, the local westside Independant paper had an announcement that the Broadmoor is hosting an event to come have a pint of ale, and unlimited small plates for just $35 per person.

$35 for a taste????

All Sierra Nevada 12-packs were on sale today. I chose this over Torpedo. I'm regretting it a little. It's not my favorite.

It was probably me. They're the only real functioning MS brewery. Their normal offerings (Southern Pecan, Indian Summer, Reb Ale) are okay but they were created back when you couldn't sell/make over 6% ABW in the state, so they were handcuffed a little. Timber Beast is their first post-blue-law beer. I haven't had it yet but I've heard really good things.

That's a good site. I wonder how often that is updated. We've had Founder's here in SC for about a year but it shows SC as not having it.

He seems to update it often, last 2012-11-24, but also relies on some user input: http://www.seekabrew.com/distro/about.html
Shoot him an e-mail.
