A recipe for burgers that are good, or a recipe for the burgers depicted in Kenan and Kel's seminal late-90s comedy Good Burger?

I know this will sound archaic and rube-esque to all the food snobs here, but we mix a pack of the hidden valley ranch mix in with each pound of ground beef. It makes a pretty delicious burger for my simple taste buds.

Buy good quality meat.
Use a little Pepper and Salt
Place good quality meat on grill.

PERFECT BURGER

Don't try and flatten the patty with your spatula. Keep that juice in the meat.

Bread is the real sleeper ingredient in the burger. The best buns are fluffy but a little crunchy without being grilled or buttered. The fresher the bread, the better the burger. Sometimes I like a slightly sweet bun, but only with certain kinds of burgers like BBQ or bacon.

EDIT: @skitchp sort of beat me to it. And in a more concise way.

If you've ever been to the Shake Shack in NYC, here's a good attempt at their secret recipe for burgers:

Yeah, I'm a big fan. They opened one up down in Battery Park City last year, not too far from my office. Still haven't made the trip out too it yet though. Shameful on my part. May need to take an extra long lunch break very soon...and, I always pair the burger with a black & white milkshake.
