finally got hold of some apples that have been impossible to find in my parts:

Pinata - almost has a "pearish" like flavor and bite
Pink Lady - has a ruby red grapefruit flavor, never had an apple with this flavor profile before

Both were excellent apples, and definitely a cut above a good apple. In fact, the Pink Lady ranks up there with a Honeycrisp. Now, I have to stock up on some while I have the chance.

The batch of Pinatas I got recently were excellent. My two older kids commented on how great they were WITHOUT being asked by me.

Today at HEB, I came across a half gallon of some honeycrisp cider from a Kentucky orchard called "Louisburg". I haven't tried it yet. If it's good, I'm going to use it in a hot beverage recipe I'm making at a potluck later this month.
