The bread was coated with just enough sugar to give me a mouthful of gritty sweetness, but the grain in the recipe balances it out for an earthy, fibery finish. I can't finish the whole thing after this omelette that I already had, but I will be storing this for a mid-afternoon snack.

Sounds excellent. Did you get the name of the son's restaurant?

His son actually gave me his card when Bear (that's what the man goes by..) moved in in case of emergency. Tiny Boxwood's Cafe & Espresso Bar. It's a few blocks from me. I never knew. His son also used to live in my apartment while his sister lived across the stairwell in what is now Bear's apartment.

i was given a godfather when I was born, asshole. Because of the cajun roots in my family, I call him "parrain".

in college, i had a friend nick-named Bear. he was 6'9, about 325, so the nickname was apt. i'm curious to know how your Bear became known as such. maybe if you recover from the coffee gaffe, you'll find out.
