sleightofhandpj has just started homebrewing so we need a thread where he, knuckles of frisco, and I can discuss the fine art of making beer, wine, mead, and/or hard cider in one's bathtub.

I've got some great resources bookmarked at home which I'll post this weekend.

sleight, what are you thinking of making (or what have you made)?

Fun Fact #1: October 14th, 1978, in one of the greatest acts of his Presidency, President Jimmy Carter signed House Resolution 1377 (Senate Amendment 3534) legalizing the homebrewing of beer in the United States.

Quote #1: "Give a man a beer, and he'll waste an afternoon. Teach a man to brew, and he'll waste a lifetime." -Unknown

My friend bought me a Mr. Beer kit for christmas about 3 years ago, and I still haven't attempted to make beer. Maybe this spring/summer. I say that ever year. It's so much easier to just go buy a case.

I do a little homebrewing, although I'm not too hardcore about it yet. I've made a stout, red ale, 2 different Holiday Ales, and I'll probably bottle a porter this weekend. I'll probably start my batch of Dortmunder after that. I don't have time to make my own mash or anything, so it's pretty much either Brewer's Best kits, or using home recipes from my local homebrew store.

I really enjoy it, but I don't have the time to get more involved in the more complex aspects of it.

I have 4 favorites of which I've done repeat batches. I'll post the recipes.

IPA, Nut Brown, Oatmeal Stout, Mixed Berry Wheat

IPA's are the really hopped-out one's, right? I don't think I've ever tried one of those.

i was just looking at the mr. beer site a few days ago and was trying to put together an order, but apparently there is a worldwide shortage in hopps, so many of their recipes are unavailable right now. anybody know of any other good sites to visit to check out homebrewing kits? i'm more interested in brown ales and holiday/spicy ales. thanks.
