i'd maybe wait until your fourth or fifth outing to get into anything that you're having reservations about. get your bearings, then order a chef's choice platter and see what jives.

so sushi is like beer...i'd never recommend a beginner an IPA, i'd start them out with a pale ale and let them work their way up

i'll stick with tuna rolls and what not for a bit

that's a good comparison. i just think that the more exotic stuff has the potential to scare some off.

eel's great, it can just be a little chewy.

Don't listen to midwesterners about sushi. Eel is like the chicken of sushi. Eat some next time you go, see if I'm wrong.

I'll be totes honest, almost all the time I'm at a sushi place I don't know what I'm eating. I'll just try a bit of everything. I love the general concept of sushi, is what I'm trying to say I guess.
