I was in a farmers market this weekend and I came across a direct to consumer beef company selling high quality beef:

http://www.brandtbeef.com/

I enquired whether they had prime NY strips and she said she usually doesn't but had 3 that she was given this morning @ $20 each. I bought all 3, they were vacuum sealed. She said "oh based on the date these will keep in your fridge at least a week". When I got home, I noticed the date was May 25.

Isn't a month a long ass time for beef to be in the fridge? Should I eat these gang?

Sorry, I should have been clearer in my original post:

Only non anti-semetics with an IQ over 80 are solicited for their opinion.

Just found a contact for Brandt and got such an odd response:

"It's cryovaccum sealed and kept in a cooler much colder than your fridge - but not frozen - before it goes to the truck."

That being said, she really had no idea. She said she will talk to her boss and get back to me. I just want my money back at this point. The only reason I didn't see the "packed on date" is she put it in a shopping bag and sealed it it for me so I had no idea.

lol.

The CEO called me to tell me that the steak is fine and asked me to call him when I'm done to give him feedback.

His last name is "brandt".

haha

If it's bad, you won't die..you might have an interesting, colourful night afterwards though.
Meats kinda fatty and bacteria cant digest fat, so if it's vacuum packed and been in storage it'll be ok.

You realise that good steak is usually aged for up to six weeks though, right?

Yes, but its aged in a freezer not a fridge. I looked into this :)

This has not been aged in a freezer since May 25, but has been in a cold "cooler".

It should last up to six weeks if it's kept 'cool'.

Basically I'm saying 'eat it, you pussy'. You're going to cook it anyway, right? If there is anything wrong with it, you'll know once you open it and start grilling.
