Yeah but it's a little narrower than that. Like I would consider beef stew comfort food but it's not really soul food.

same general procedure, not quite the same taste but same idea yes.

Fried Green Tomatos are also similar but more juicy and tart.

This thread is making me want Fried Chicken, Fried Pickles and some good Collard Greens in addition to the okra.

IMHO Most restaurants ruin Collards, chopping them up is lunacy, and they always have too much fatback. but that's another thread really I guess.


One other great, fantastic okra dish is Okra and Tomatos. My God it's heaven on rice.

have had boiled okra a time or two, this just isn't the way to do it, too slimey.
