I'm making this for the first time and it's smelling goooooooood http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paul ... index.html I also added potatoes and red wine. Of course, this is just the first beef stew recipe I found on the internet but the reviews looked good. |

I always laugh at the prep time that they give. If it's 5 minutes, I usually add about 25 more. |

America's Test Kitchen also has a really good recipe for beef stew. |

whats your recipe? i didn't like this one so much. the beef wasn't tender enough and the broth was very soup like. do you make it in a slow cooker? (anyone can respond) |

The recipe I use calls for anchovy paste (or minced anchovy fillets) and lean salt pork. You also need well-marbled beef -- don't use lean. Matty: if you want to thicken the "sauce," use unflavored gelatin. |

I've had beef in a slow cooker since yesterday morning (10am). Hopefully it turns out alright because I could use some serious redemption on my cooking lately. Carrots, red potatoes, celery, onion, and a bottle of stout. |
