Hey all,
I know that you probably have your hands full with various things, but would it at all be possible for me to ask for your advice and input in creating a bracket style tournament of different beers in the Food and Drink forum? I'm toying around with the idea of doing this, but I'm having a hard time deciding how seeding should happen.
Of course, we could always just do a draft style tournament with teams of six beers or so, but I think that a March Madness style throw down resulting in a definitive favorite/best beer declaration for RM would be more fun.
Thoughts? Ideas? Please PM them to me or post them in this thread. I'll keep discussion open during the week and hopefully put something together by next Monday.

The biggest stumbling block that I can foresee in a tournament like this is the inevitable inclusion of region-exclusive beers. I know that I would personally would use beer advocate to settle any voting issues that I'd have, but that's just me.

West Coast, East Coast brackets?
Excellent idea. To extend this further, maybe we could also have a Southern and Midwestern region. Where would you place the many breweries coming from the Carolinas?
Also, I believe countries other than America make beer too. Can anyone confirm this?

I suspect 4 U.S. brackets and 1 international bracket. Based on RM geography: Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and maybe just a big-ass West/Southwest region?

That all sounds good except for the five brackets part.

I should have said regions, not brackets.

The question remains: How the fuck would you seed this thing? Beer Advocate ratings?
random number generator bro
That seems a bit lazy and unbalanced for a tournament this important to RM's collective taste mongering. what happens when Two-Hearted goes up against Pliny the Elder in the first round?

something like that could sour relationships for quite some time

them's the breaks...who says the titanic matchups always have to occur at the end of tournaments?

Good point. Also, "lazy" was probably unfair of me to say. I shouldn't call taking the time to organize streams of nominations into bracket form, then settling on random number generation as opposed to a long and tedious series of beer advocate rankings "lazy", should I?

i'm only into RM for the souring of relationships, so let's go random on this thing

Ahh, the inevitable 'Black' vs. 'In My Tree'...
