That card'll work with your PC, provided you haven't added anything to the PCI slot that is listed as "available" on your specifications.

BUT...I'd still recommend going internal. You should have one spot left for an IDE device. Check outpost, newegg, etc. for a good deal on an IDE (or PATA) drive.

So how about one of these?:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822144392

or this one with a 16mb cache. Is is that worth an extra 10 bucks?

Best Buy has got this sexy little beast for $199.99 this week:

Image

That's a 500GB external USB 2.0 Western Digital. In fact, I believe it's the same one I just filled for Ben.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 2290230595

I also received an email from them for 10% off online purchases for the next two days, and they've (according to fatwallet - haen't seen it myself) got coupons ranging from 10-30% off in-store purchases. Eligibility of this hard drive from the in-store coupon seems to be hit-or-miss, but worth a try if you're interested. Here's more info from fatwallet:

I was able to find an in-store coupon for 30% off. I used it on the HD and ended up paying $139.99. What a great deal!

Ok, John. You've got me seriously thinking about this. Here's the hard drive you previously linked to:
http://shop1.outpost.com/product/459627 ... IN_RSLT_PG

I opened up my pc and I have an extra spot open. Got a slave IDE cable and power cable right there waiting for it.

My question is if you can transfer to this type of HD?

So from what I understand, after installing the hd you need to format. So once you would receive it you would format, and add whatever data I select. So once I get it all I would have to do is install and it would be ready to go?

You're making this too easy

I need somebody to talk me out of it. I'm supposed to be saving my money, not buying hard drives.
