Counting Crows have started a system to open up their vault...when will Pearl Jam???

mp3: $10
FLAC: $13
CD: $21 (incl/ s&h)

Counting Crows Brings the Music Back to the Fans!

Counting Crows has dedicated itself to bringing the music back to the fans this year. First came the free downloads of "1492" and "When I Dream of Michelangelo". Then came the unprecedented release of video footage to make your own video.

Now, we're giving you the opportunity to download quality live soundboard recordings. Counting Crows is excited to bring you Livecountingcrows.com. And to celebrate, we're giving a FREE SHOW to the first 10,000 fans. The show was taped from the beginning of our summer tour in Charlotte, NC on July 28th.

What exactly is Livecountingcrows.com? Well, its a place to download and purchase shows, but its so much more than that. Its your new resource for the entire live concert experience. While you're looking through our show catalog, you'll be able to post your review of a show, make a compilation of your favorite songs and even buy gift certificates for your family and friends.

Livecountingcrows.com is designed with both the serious collector and new fan alike. Each show is available in FLAC files for those of you who want the ultimate in audio quality, and MP3 for those of you who want easy files that you can listen to from the moment you download the files. All downloads come with CD booklet and labels for you to print in the comfort of your own home. For those of you who want us to do all the work, you can purchase a CD option which will send the disc, complete with artwork right to your doorstep.

What shows will be available? Every show from July 28, 2008 forward will be available on livecountingcrows.com. Most shows will be up within 72 hours of the show. In addition, we'll be releasing shows from our archives periodically throughout the year. Make sure to sign up for our mailing list so you'll be the first to know when we release shows.

So why are you still reading this? Head over to download the very first FREE show we're releasing. The setlist is incredible. Listen to the new songs off of "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings" played live as well as your old favorites like "Up All Night" and "Rain King". Groove along to an 11 minute version of "A Murder of One". From the first notes of "Angels of the Silences" to the last notes of "Walkaways" you'll find yourself thinking you're actually at the show.

And check out the first few shows we have available for download. You asked for more live music and we listened, so its time for you to listen to all of the Counting Crows shows you could ever imagine.

Yeah, I remember a message from the Ten Club that said the same thing. Still waiting for the next archive show...

Has anyone listened to the free show? I have to give Pearl Jam props for their mixing compared to the first CC show. The CC show is mixed really heavy on the vocals and is rather sterile. Yes, I know it's a "soundboard" recording, but there are ways to make it be more ambient sounding. I think CC will come through on their promise to provide old shows unlike Pearl Jam as CC are working with nugs.net for their distribution, same outfit that Black Crowes, Phish, WSP, and dare I say it.....Metallica. I think their distribution is more in line with what the consumer wants in terms of all 3 media available and not CDRs for the CDs. I wish them luck, I think farming it out to nugs will be the key to success instead of the nepotism model Pearl Jam used.

havent heard the CC show yet, but in the past, I have been extremely disappointed with the sound on the Metallica shows I purchased. vocals were upfront, all the instruments were muffled and way. sounded like a straight low quality IEM or something, not like a professional mix.

while PJ shows vary from tour to tour, I have never been disappointed with the sound to the level where I would be upset about getting it, like I was with Metallica.

also, I have assumed for a long time that this is one of the biggest reasons that PJ hasnt released older shows, because I would guess that everything in 91/92 at least was recorded as a straight soundboard DAT, which would only allow for an EQ, and not a proper mixing like the muti-track recordings they make now.

You're pretty much on the money, I recall an interview with Brett Eliason where he stated he recorded every show from when he first started with the band on either cassette or DAT but upgraded to a basic multi-track for 1993 and had slowly upgraded the recording setup from then on.

Still, I'm sure there's dozens of great shows from 1993 to 1998 that would make great official releases: Boston III '94 (the Orpheum show), Red Rocks II '95, Randall's Island II '96, MSG II '98 etc, just to name a few.

I'm not saying those shows were the best (though some were up there) from those years, but I'm sure they'd be some of the more profitable ones to release.

I remember another interview with him in which he discussed the fans' desires to have shows released, and I was really happy to hear that he was in tune with the trading community and realised that we want the shows that havent been heard (holy grail...2/19/92!). while the shows you mentioned above are all standout shows, and would probably sell well, we have good to great recordings of all of them.

personally, I would love to see the theater shows from 1994 be released (Denver, St Louis), the 1995 Australia/Southeast Asia tour has so many great shows we havent heard, and just about anything else from 1993-1996 would be incredible.

Is the free show still available?

I looked and couldn't find it.

Oh yeah, for sure - I was just surmising that shows like the ones I mentioned above would probably sell better than a random show from the 1994 tour. Hell, we'll probably end up with official releases of Atlanta '94 and Soldier Field '95 before anything else - as people will buy them in droves.

The trading community and RM users are only a small fraction of the fanbase who buy the boots, the more casual fans and those who hang out on the Message Pit would jump at the chance to buy Soldier Field in an official boot.

I'd vote for Hartford '96 in a heartbeat, as well as anything from 93/94.

or MTV Unplugged

(explanation, 3/16/92 is a great show, but I HIGHLY doubt an official release could sound any better than what we all ready have.)

Well fortunately they can't release that, since MTV owns it. MTV could release it as a CD or DVD but I don't see why they'd decide to do that after 16 years.

you know they'll release it (several years down the road) as soon as something negative happens with the band...they break up, or worse. typical MTV.

speaking of how much MTV sucks, saw John Norris at Lollapalooza watching The National this past weekend. that guy used to ask the dumbest questions at every VMA show, even worse than Kurt Loder. looked like he finally came out of the closet though from his pink chuck taylors and denim cutoff shorts.

Dude, thanks for burning that image into my head. Did NOT need to picture that... *shudders*
