Awhile back I tried to import many of my older boots into my Ipod. Time consuming process, especially for many of the boots that did not have the metadata with it such as artist, song name, album etc. I had to manually type these in. Has anyone else gone through this process have any tips for speeding up this process?

i like to use foobar 2000 to tag all my shows. foobar has a really cool tool called live show tagger, it uses the text file (bootleg usually has a text file w source info and setlist) with all information on it and tags all files at once. sometimes you might have to tweak the text file to make sure files get tags the way you want them, other than that it works perfectly.
Can you explain a little more the process in foobar to tag the names? I am getting ready to try and put all of the audio archives, 00, and 03 onto my Ipods.

Thanks
first make sure you have the shows seperated in folders and within those individual folders you have a text file with songs for that particular bootleg. the text file usually has setlist broken down by disc. then drag files (should be one show at a time) you want to tag into foobar, highlight all then right click. you will see option for tagging, click and more options should be revealed, then click live show tagger. at this point you should be able to follow it through. any questions let me know.

Brutal process for sure.
I would recommend a program called Xplay to back-up all your songs on your iPod. It always you to remove the songs from your iPod to your hard drive and back without having to retype all the songs. It saves anything you put into the tag on iTunes including artwork. This was a big deal to me becasue I have done ever official release since 2000 and put the official poster for each show for the artwork. It allows me to switch shows back and forth from the iPod and the hard drive.
