Hey,

Just wondering if there is a current equivalent of this site? If not, would something like this still be of use?

Does anyone know if Carl is still around? Would be cool to get a hold of the database and do something new with it....

Jason

The Internet Archive Wayback Machine is extremely helpful with sites like this:

I was thinking it would be good to resurrect so that the database could be added to...

ie mark which recordings are included in the OMN archives etc... add new sources, etc etc...

I have always thought that it would be awesome to have a live guide similar to what Nirvana fans did for their recordings. http://www.nirvanaguide.com/. Having all of that information in one place would help collectors but creating it would be a massive undertaking.

yeah but Nirvana had a LOT less shows/recordings because of their policy and short touring life obviously.

regardless: I'm game to help and could offer a free typepad blog for it.

Obviously one reason Nirvana's is so detailed is that there aren't that many shows to begin with. Still this is something that I have wanted to do (or be a part of) for a long time. However, I don't have the time for it. I can't even manage my own collection. If someone did decide to take on a project like this, I would be willing to help out all that I could.

I don't know him so I can't help you there. Would like to bounce some ideas off of you though. Maybe we can form some kind of collaboration. Send me a pm if you are interested.

I could probably ask carl (hti) or JR (digijam) if they have the HtI DB.
If not, scraping the archive probably isn't that tough

Actually I think JR was working a reboot of this a long time ago, possibly to integrate with 2FT?

If you could ask the guys if they still have the DB Leehro that would be awesome... I sent a message to TFT to see if they knew much about this.

Do you think many people here would be interesting in using a site that keeps track of all source information as a means to create and keep their collections up-to-date (ie store the lists on the site)? Basically, i want to create something that i want to use... nothing out there has the features i want, and i just don't want to spend hours upon hours maintaining my collection list when something could do it for me.

Would be great to keep track of which sources are the best, which sources have been mixed together etc etc, and having lots of people keeping it up to date makes the job alot easier.

I'm thinking it could be extended to video recordings too.
