Hey guys,
I'm cleaning through some of my DATs and Sullen is taking my PJ clones off my hands but I was thinking of finally converting my old masters that aren't already on disc to hard drive. What's the easiest way to edit one long track and clean it up?

I have a new Mac Mini now and thought garage band would be great, but it doesn't appear to have a track split function.

Any ideas out there?

Oh, the tapes are mostly punk rock with some weird stuff I've never gotten around to like Helmet from 1997 (awesomely loud set) some punk stuff that sounds great etc.

I know you can get audacity (free) for mac. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac
There's also soundtrack pro (apple) which I've used extensively, it's part of final cut studio or logic studio.
Adobe has soundbooth, but I don't know if they sell it separately or only with CS4.
I'm sure there's a couple others too

Fission is simple and good at doing basic stuff like normalizing levels, fade in/out and track splitting. I think it's only like $50.

That's really helpful. I might try Fission first since I only need to do a few dozen projects and its just $32.
The other ones look nice but really expensive.

I will report on how they turn out. The first file I have is one long trace of A Perfect Circle show from Sunrise Florida around the turn of the century that's already in WAV so I can split the tracks pretty easily hopefully and clean up the sound. Don't think anyone's heard that show before.
