Do Memorex dvd's suck? I have been getting a bunch of Dual Layer memorex and a bunch are failing verification. It isn't my files because they have burnt with other discs. I hate being a dick and telling people that their discs don't work but they are expensive to replace.

i assume you have a dual layer burner?

what programs are you using? i've never used dual layer but i use memorex dvd-r's and they've been the best for me. i've always heard verbatim is the best but i've gotten coasters with them before.

Memorex is one I usually avoid. If I can find them I would go with Verbatims, however, burning DL dvds is always sketch, there is frequently a problem with verification. People seem to deal with this in a few different ways- if the DL doesn't pass verification, fully test the disc, it might actually be fine. I stick with Verbatims and get a few coasters, or you can get Memorex DLs and have more coasters but pay less for the discs initially.

They are still expensive, I thought they would be cheaper by now.

I've actually succumbed to purchasing some Memorex DLs myself, and have had little to no initial failure with them. However, I doubt I'd put anything I couldn't replace on 'em. They're handy for copies of "stuff", and giving out to people. Archives still go on the 'batims.

This is pretty much my theory. I don't seem to burn coasters with 'batims, but as Ang said, Memorex are cheaper. I use them for stuff I give out or what I burn for the wife. I use 'batims for anything that I consider important.

But if you modern fucks insist on DL material, Ive always had good success with Sony DL.. :peace:
