Due to the age (over 8 years) and sheer size (around 3.5 million posts) of the board, it has become increasingly difficult to fix bugs, including the current problems with preserving automatic login and with combating against spambots. We are considering to start anew with a brand new installation of phpBB that will make things more manageable in this regard.
Making this move would result in the following: --All existing posts and threads would be archived on a separate URL, and no additional posts will be allowed on those archived threads. --However, you would still be able to login to the old board and access your private messages and other information, if need be, as well as to search for old post information, and either manually copy & paste or link information to the new board. --You will need to reregister for the new board, and your post count will be reset as a result.
If we do proceed with this move, it will happen on New Year's Day. However, please let us know any opinions that you have on this move!
Would the archived board be searchable in much the same manner that it is now? Or would it behoove us to make a master thread linking to some of the threads that should have been the Hall of Fame forum?

Yes, you'll be able to search the old forum as you do right now. The old forum will essentially be the same, except that existing threads/forums will be locked.
If you guys want to make a Hall of Fame thread on the new board, you can go right ahead if you want.

Now there is an internet hub bub that there are some threads that have been moved to a supposed "mod forum" for various reasons. Can those be moved back to the appropriate forums so that they can be viewed since we won't be able to comment on/continue those threads anyway?

I feel like that one has been restored. Am I wrong?

I'm all for the idea. My only regret is that chud will not reach 100000 posts. Do you guys think I should change my name to "Argonaut" "Argo" "argonaut" "argo" or leave it as it is?

I'd have to make on average 734.25 posts per day for the next 12 days in order to hit 100k before the board exodus. Will I get banned if I give a few people my password to make this happen?

This many bad "chud" posts for the last two weeks of this board is going to ruin this board for the next two weeks. I think we should just accept that chud isn't going to make it. Maybe on the next board.

It survived 91 thousand, I think it can handle another 9
