| Post subject: | BitTorrent problem |
Well I'm new to the whole BitTorrent thing so I downloaded a movie through BitTorrent but the files are in .Bin and .Cue format. I don't know if this is how its supposed to be but how do I convert them to .mpg or .avi. Thanks...any help would be appreciated. |

Open the .cue file with Nero, or another burning app. That's all you should have to do. And if you're downloading movies, or any other copyrighted material, I hope you've got SafePeer or PeerGuardian running. |

Thanks for your reply but what about the .bin files...they are 685 mb and 386mb each...how do I play them. |

These are CD image files (like .iso files). The .bin file contains the data and the .cue file contains the instructions for how to burn. Open the .cue file with Nero and it will automatically burn the CD correctly (using the info contained in the .bin file). The cue/bin files are made for burning, not watching. They are not a type of video file so you cannot play or convert them. They contain data, it could be a video CD, pictures, data files, a music CD etc. Chances are you have a VCD which will play in your computer CD-ROM drive or your DVD player after you burn it. |

wow..I didn;t know this. So whenever you dl from bittorrent, you must burn the data before being able to watch/listen to it? |

No. In this particular download you got .bin and .cue files. In another you may get a DVD file structure (Video_TS), another may give you a single divx .avi file or a folder containing an .avi and a .info file. Bittorrent is merely a way to transfer files--any files. |

Anyone have any suggestions for a nice BT client? I've been using the old-school one for a long time and am lookin to see what else is out there. |

I use bit tornado (The shadow's bittorrent client). It's a similar interface to the standar client but with nice bandwidth limiting and pause features. A lot of people seem to use Azerus, i never have. I used to us ABC, it had a nice GUI but just seemed like bloat to me, and it froze a good bit. |

You don't have to burn the bin/cue, you can simply extract the mpeg. Use ISOBuster: http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/ |
