So, when i surf the net on a certain pc, the progress bar at the bottom of explorer takes forever to go away. If i right click to close explorer, i get a program not responding message and have to "end now". From time to time i will get a "your paging file minimum is too low" type of message, so naturally, i increased the minimum and maximum paging file numbers, this did not help, i was on the phone yesterday with dell for a couple hours, everything worked peachy in safe mode, but after reinstalling drivers and a bunch of other bullshit, nothing worked. I've signed on to dell.com and tried their quick fixes, one was uninstalling Intel App. Accelorator, which i've looked under startup, and device manager to no avail. Please help!!!!!
it's a dell dimension 4100, i think 128mb, so i set the minimum to 192, which is 1.5 times the mem. and the max at 384, which is 3 times the mem, that's what it said on microsoft.com. then i increased it drastically to see what would happen, nothing. then back to the normal settings.

after typing in "your paging file minimum is too low" and reading the first couple posts the main topic seemed to be memory. the fact that you might need more. this also depends on how many programs you have open at the time of this error. one article explained that if you had a few programs open and didn't have a ton of memory that you could get this kind of error. but i'm not absolutely sure.
