i keep getting these things right when i open internet explorer, internet ecplorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience. though if i just move it off to the side i can keep on doing what i was doing. now im sure there are a ton of things that can cause this, and its probably not somehitng that someone will know the problem off the top of their head, but if so that would be awsome .
and if it helps, i was haveing the DrWatson postmortem debugger problem last week and pretty much since i did the system restore to fix that problem, now the explorer encountering a problem has become a regular thing.

What OS are you running?
You might want to try booting into safe mode with networking and then try to use IE and see if you get the same problem or not.
i can try the safe mode, though the only times ive been in it was on accident , how do i get to it on purpose, and also if it doesnt happen in safe mode then what will that tell me?
the main thing i know about computers is how to go online other then that i tend to get myself confused

o yea, and what is better about firefox?
thanks
Firefox is free software.
It's much more reliable than IE, for example stuff like your problem doesn't happen. Another big thing for me is you can have tabbed windows; instead of like 5 actual IE windows opened at once.

Firefox is to IE as Indie is to Pop.
Firefox is cool, but I have better luck with compatability (plugins etc) with IE, and IE gives me no problems so I stick with it usually, but I have both installed.

Definitely give Firefox a try Jason, but also try Buggy's advice of booting into Safe Mode with network support. Restart the computer and press F8 on the keyboard while it's rebooting until you see the Windows Startup Menu. If IE works fine while it's in this mode, it's likely some third party software causing a problem with it.
If so, you should do the normal maintenance things (well you should do this regardless): check your computer for spyware (if you don't already have them: Ad-Aware and Spybot - probably best to scan with both), and viruses. Make sure you update the spyware cleaner and your antivirus program before you scan.
Also you should also have a look at your Startup menu (Start --> Run, type 'msconfig' in the box, then click the Startup Tab). You CAN uncheck everything, then restart and see if your IE problem is gone, but if booting in safe mode fixed the IE problem then this would be redundant. So since there are some programs that are handy to have starting up and it's not always obvious by the names in the list to discern what's what, you can check out this site (http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php). Use it to search the names of your startup items and check to see which ones should be running, which ones aren't necessary, and which ones are spyware, therefore REALLY unnecessary.

I actually had the exact problem about a year or so ago. This was before I switched to Firefox and was the reason that I switched to Firefox. I forget what I did to solve the problem, but eventually I got it back working properly, but still used Firefox. If I remember what I did I will help. Sorry I can't help at this current moment.
