I hope someone can help b/c I haven't found anything on the net, much to my suprise.

I have two questions/problems:

My main one is this. I started using Azureus this week and had downloaded up to 95% of the files I wanted. Suddenly my health went red and I have been unable to get it to resume downloading (and I am very peeved), but of course it always stays the sickly yellow color. I can start up new torrent downloads on the same tracker with no problem but it will not allow me to finish the ones I already have almost done. I have looked at port forwarding, changing my ports, I have given access through my firewalls....and so on. My connection though is thru a wireless internet on a university campus. Does anyone know how I can get back on the tracker and finish downloading these files.

Which brings me to my second question. Does anyone know how to sucessfully get around the obstruction the universities create since their IP addresses are usually unknown and port forwarding is almost impossible. My health on azureus stays yellow and I have never been able to get it to go green. I am very new to all this, so some of it still confuses me, but if anyone has suggestions, or a link to a good forum disc. or FAQ I would be so greatful.

No, thank goodness. I saw that they got shut down.

I was able to finally get the red status to go to yellow, but the download rate never really flucuated off 0kb/s. And now it has gone red again. I guess I will just have to st and wait. But if anyone knows how to get around university firewalls, please share!

i dont think you can get around a university firewall...they are pretty secure, im sure there is a way, but mch to advanced for me. also if you ever got caught doing something like that....i think that would be bad

you could try httptunnel, but that might get you in trouble, if they find out, that you've been cheating.

as far as i know, it's basically a virtual server, routing traffic through the http-port.

but wouldn't it be wiser to ask someone around, someone who knows, how to safely trick your uni's firewall? maybe you even draw their attention by tunneling your traffic. in general, you CAN dl with azureus, when you're firewalled. it's slower, but it works as well. http-tunnel could help to get you fully connected. if you use httptunnel, you'll have match azureus-ports and the settings of httptunnel.

without using httptunnel, try experimenting with the network-ports in the azureus config. use high numbers (10.000 to 60.000), or some standard-ports like 20, 21, 80, 81, 8080. changes in azureus downloadspeed might take time to show full impact.

exactly, you may think they are being dicks for not letting you download, but say you have only 3000 students on campus and 30% of them are downloading at massive rates, their network will be fucked and more than likely come crashing to a serious crawl for those who are trying to use it to actually learn

Thank you all for the responses. I figured it would be next to impossible, and fairly bad to do, but I am actually visiting this university for short a time (not an official student) and sadly must admit that I was taking advantage of the high speed internet while I have it (plus since I am abroad in the UK I didn't feel nearly as restricted as I usually do back home in the states...but maybe that isn't quite so). And now I have to admit I do feel guilty b/c when I was in undergrad I know that we taxed our colleges broadband width badly when napster and such were first out.

I will look into some of the options but will probably just accept the firewall for now. What can ya do!

They're more than likely running Packet Shaper. The only way around that is to tunnel, either using a program or a SOCKS server. It's really difficult to get to work without putting in way more effort (and money) than reasonable.
