Hey all,
When I put a CD into my CD Rom drive I get an error message saying; "access to the specified device, path or file is denied"
Can anyone help me out with this problem.
I use my computer as my stereo also, so this sucks.
Thanks

what program do you use to play the cd, winamp, windows media player? its possible the file (program) is corrupted

Quote:
Error:
Access to the specified device, path or file is denied.

Translation:
This message means Windows can’t find a program when you try to start it from the Start Menu, a Desktop shortcut, or by double-clicking a document in Windows Explorer. This only happens with programs that are installed in the Program Files folder, which is where many applications are installed by default on your hard drive. This error occurs if you have another folder named Program on the same drive as the Program Files folder, which can confuse some applications.

Solution:
Try to rename the Program folder. If this doesn’t fix the problem, download the latest WinNT or Win2000 service pack.

im assuming you mean windows media player. theres a chance you may have to redownload it and install it. if not, you can try winamp, that will play your cds just as well

It may also be that your CD-Rom drive is on the blink. Try using a different CD and seeing how that goes. Failing that, try cleaning the drive.

Hope that helps!!

I'll keep messing with it. It isn't Windows Media, it is an actual application simply called CD Player. It doesn't matter what disk I use, it always happens.
We'll see what happens
thanks

Try Ctrl+Alt+Del and close CD player then try playing in WinAmp.
