Can I make a VCD using a CD-R?

How?

I can't seem to bring the data into the burning program to burn correctly. I've never made a VCD before. Also will I be able to play it on my DVD player?

The easiest way is to use Nero. Just select 'Video CD' from the main menu then, all you would have to do is to drag and drop the video file on to the disc and Nero does the rest. Simple as that, v easy to use. And yes, you can play them on DVD players. I've made 2352352523 VCD's that way.

Good Luck

Nero will make VCDs for you - just choose Video CD.

Your DVD player has to be VCD-compatible in order to play 'em.

Yep, just ask Stevie Ray Vaughan.

To make a VCD, you need to encode your video into VCD-compliant MPEG1 video file.
