My computer has never allowed me to burn a mix CD without a fight. Until I downloaded real one player and it worked perfectly, then I upgraded WMP and that worked too. However, I recently had to re-install windows and even though I have both of those programs back, and they're the most recent versions, it won't allow me to do it. WMP just tells me to clean the cd or try a different brand  which is horseshit.
Real one says it won't burn because some of the files are .wma, not .mp3, but this has never been a problem before. Of course, it won't convert them to mp3 either.
Has anyone got any ideas or should I just go all office space on this machine's arse?

If you only knew how much of my life I had wasted trying to get fucking Nero to burn a mix cd. I'm surprised I didn't burn the fucking house down in frustration. But, I'd still try again if I could find the cd to re-install it.

well, afaik the downloadable demo-version is fully functional, only limited in burning speed. you could give it a try.

what kind of mix-cd do you want to burn? mixed audio tracks (like the goode olde mix-tape), or a "mixed-mode-cd", containing data (files) and cd-player audio-tracks?

There are many diff't versions of Nero, and yes, some seem more frustrating than others. The one I've found that I like best is Nero Express 5.5. It's very user-friendly.

I eventually found the disc for Nero 6, and I tried to just burn a cd normally, and it keeps failing at 5 or 6%. I've made about half a dozen frisbees so far. It has to be because we just got a new hard drive and re-installed windows (which has made the computer work much worse than ever before, for some reason). I think it did this when we first got the computer but eventually it just... worked. It doesnt't matter what brand of CD-R I use or what speed I burn at, or what CD I try to make a copy of. Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea what I could do? It doesn't seem to matter what program I use. I wonder if there's something that needs to be hooked up or installed or should I just hit it with a sledgehammer?

Is it possible it's the cd drive? I have Nero 6 and I love it. I've never had a problem. I had a drive go bad on me and I couldn't burn anything. Every disc failed at some point. I got a new drive and it works fine now.

is the problem resticted for audio-cds or doesnt it burn other cds, either?

seems like a hardware-prob to me, too, esp. since you got new hardware ...

have you double checked all wired connections?
tried updating the burner's firmware? (brand, name?)
does it play cds normally?
