I downloaded the demo versions of Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot in Shn. off of Bittorent. I converted the songs to .wav files, but when I open up iTunes to import and convert them to mp3, the only thing in the file that iTunes reads is the text file that came with the download. I tried converting the .wav files to mp3 using mkw, but iTunes still won't read it. What the heck am I doing wrong? If these were copyright protected, wouldn't the songs still show up in the file to import?

Couldn't you have downloaded it in MP3 format to begin with?
I had a torrent of it only a short time ago, it still has a few seeds.
Those lossless file formats are a nerd gimmick and totally unneccessary for portable players.

Unfortunately, the newly-posted bittorrent (these demos are slightly different than the earlier ones going around) only came .shn. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get iTunes to read the converted .mp3 files.

Anyone?

Let's go through this step by step. This should work.

1. You have the downloaded torrent files in .shn format.
2. Convert them to .wav using mkw.
3. Drag and drop the .wav files into your iTunes library (make sure your library is highlighted in the left column)
4. Select the added .wav files in iTunes, go to Advanced -> Convert Selection to...
5. After the conversion is finished, delete the original .wav files from iTunes.

Thank you! I'll try it tonight when I get home.

And Peeps . . . I have two questions for you: (1) "How can we be lovers if we can't be friends? and, (2) "How can we start over when the fighting never ends?"
