Hello all,
I've recently jumped into the world of Bit Torrent and I've succesfully downloaded about 5 audio shows so far (woohoo!). My share ratio is around 0.9 and I'm seeding some shows at the moment so that'll improve shortly. I'd like to start uploading shows but I want to do it right. So I thought I'd ask the experienced members of this fine board how to go about doing this. (***FYI, I did a fairly extensive search of this and other forums and couldn't find anything that answered my questions***)
Here's what I'm working with....
I've got a Mac (OSX-Tiger), my BT client is Azureus, I use Xact to decode my FLAC and SHN files to .WAV , and I get my torrents from dimeadozen.org .
What is the process to convert .wav to flac or shn (which is the preferred format?) What should my settings in Xact be?
Once converted, what do I need to do at dimeadozen.org to get this torrent started?
I assume that Torrent tittle should be a base description of what the torrent is (ex. Pearl Jam - Toronto 96)
What goes into the Torrent File field? i assume it's a .torrent file , but how/where do I create it?
Should I add an Info File? What is it?
The Description field is pretty self explanatory but what needs to go in there besides band name, show date, lineage, set list?
OK, lots of questions, I know. My apologies. But hopefully someone out there has the answers I need. Thanks in advance.

i don't have a mac, but try typing in "upload flac torrent mac" into google and see what it finds.
as far as the conversion, 99% of the shows out there have already been converted to SHN or FLAC, and from verified, good copies. some from dat, many from CD. instead of introducing more variables (like if your copy has a click/scratch, or if you don't have much experience ripping discs to flac), you're better off just taking the FLACs someone else has made and torrenting those.
it's a bad idea to download FLACs, burn them to audio CD, re-rip and then torrent that. now you've got two different copies of what should be the same audio, but since you burned and ripped it, there's no way to know that yours is in fact the same.
but if all you want to do is get your share ratio up, you can re-open torrents you've already downloaded.

Thanks Leehro.
I really don't want to upload anything of questionable quality so I'll stick to seeding the stuff I've recently downloaded and haven't converted to .wav
cheers
Mike
