Sorry if this has done before....but how do you convert dvd files to mpegs so I can send them to people? I also need to know how to cut out parts so I can just send certain parts or songs. I have DVD Decryptor so I know how to get the dvd files onto my HD...I just need to know a program to decode to mpeg and how to trim them down.
don't know the app to encode the dvd files to mpeg
but this app: Auto Gordian Knot can take it and encode the dvd to Xvid or DivX files, very ..... very simple to use.
It's : lenOx presents: Auto Gordian Knot 1.95 - THE tool for Xvid/DivX conversion.

My friend sent me Hero Video Converter....except I can't figure it out...when I record the parts I want...instead it just records from the beginning and only records 5 minutes and 11 seconds. That's all it records, and it only records from the beginning. I'll figure it out though.
You want MPEG VCR. That is exactly the program you are looking for. It is easy to use and will do exactly what you want. One tip I would suggest is that when you rip your DVD that you select File Splitting=None. That way you have one big ass VOB and can cut it all at once. This also preserves the audio sync. You load it, do your cutting, and save it. It will save audio to either AC3 if that is the original audio or MPEG audio. If your audio is in WAV format it will convert it to MPEG Audio. When you save you will have a DVD compliant MPEG that others can simply author back to DVD. This is how I process all of my DVD recorder recordings off of TV.
