anyone have suggestions on a good program to this? is it a complete pain in the ass to do? i'd like to burn some records i have to cd, but have no clue on how to go about it. any help is greatly appreciated.

You can buy a special turntable that'll hook up to your computer. That's the extent of my knowledge on this subject. I think they're about $100.

plug your record player into your soundcard. I have mine going into a preamp to my soundcards in jack...or you could go from the record players headphonejack to the mic in. you have to go to the volume settings and make sure it's not on mute if you do this one
there's plenty of programs that'll record it, it depends on the record you're trying to record if it will be a pain or not cos you ahve to adjust the volume settings so you don't clip any of the sound or not pick up quieter parts. things like godspeed you black emperor were hard for me to record.
I haven't done it for a while and not at my computer so i can't tell you what program i used just do a search for vinyl to cdr or something
