I get this error when lauching the iTunes application:

"Error 1327.Invalid Drive H:\ "

I checked one of the other forums over at apple.com where other people were having this problem, and there was a link to instructions on how to use regedit to remove any registry key/entry that might be doing this. (I recently merged some partitions, so it was believed that there might be registry key references in need of removal or updating relative to the iTunes software or user profile information).

However, I followed the link and the instructions and didn't find anything in the Windows registry folders it listed pointing to H:\.

I recently upgraded to XP and also merged partitions and moved things around, but I guess iTunes still thinks that there is an h:\ drive when there isn't one?

Or, is this error because perhaps h:\ is what is assigned when I plug in my iPod? Windows XP doesn't assign one's iPod a drive letter, does it?

My Library is mapped to my external USB 2.0 drive, so the setting in the preferences is pointing at m:\ (not h:\).

I am at a loss as to how to get rid of this error.

Has anyone had experience with this problem, or can someone recommend a solution?

PS: I already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as well - I might try to do it again though; I'm just worried it will mess up my little library that I've gotten started. I haven't had the the iPOD and the external hard drive connected at the same time to do any downloading to the iPOD yet; I'm sure I'll need more help.

I am not all that familiar with iTunes, but from what it seems like you have described, it sounds like iTunes has assigned 'h:' to some part of its operation and after doing all of that merging of partitions, something has changed and the iTunes program doesn't like it.

From what I can tell, iTunes assigns a folder for 'iTunes Music Folder' but I can't find much else in the way of assigned folders.

A lot of times, when you uninstall a program, it leaves registry keys in the registry even after uninstalling. If you are experienced at all with Regedit, you can uninstall iTunes, then search the registry for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' and delete all the remaining keys. This could help clear out the problem. Then you can reinstall a fresh copy of the program. However, I wouldn't recommend going this route if you know nothing about Regedit.

Yeah, I did that using the instructions from installshield, but I couldn't find any reference to H:/ in the locations they said to review

It says that if their suggestions don't work, to contact the software vendor, but Apple just point to their "dicussions forums" where I'm not getting any responsed to the thread I posted there.

I didn't, however, uninstall the program and then search the registry for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' and delete all the remaining keys. I don't know if I'm proficient enough to remove the registry keys on my own.

I wonder if there is a list of them?
