i have norton internet security 2004 and systemworks 2004, i bought both on ebay for a whopping 54 dollars total
i havent had a pop up since (not that i had one before, since i had older versions of them also)
i'm very careful about what i download on my home computer as well as websites i go to, so spyware isnt much of a issue with me. maybe in the last 6 months i've had two to contend with. ill run adaware maybe once ever month, if even
CDEx http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ Free CD ripper, MP3 encoder. BTW I would recommend using LAME MP3 encoder if you're thinking about econding your music into the MP3 format.
Mozilla Thunderbird http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ Free mail client from Mozilla, has a built in RSS support that I like a lot. If you're a fan of Firefox, you may like it, too.

I'll start with a basic necessity. Google Toolbar. (toolbar.google.com) The popup blocker works great, you've got Google at your finger tips. I dig it.
I like my Firefox toolbar better
I think I'll look at installing that this week
I say FireFox as well. It blocks all popups too, and has a search bar that you can use google with built in already.
