So I got a webcam, and I wanted to do video chat with my parents so they could see my kids, blah blah...

I've been using YahooIM with my sister and dad, since it seems to work much better than either AIM or MSN, but apparently, Yahoo hasn't come out with YIM for Macs yet, so I couldn't use that with my mother.

So we decided to try AIM, and apparently AIM for Mac doesn't support video, or even audio messaging. Also AIM for Mac (4.7) hasn't been updated since FEBRUARY 2004!!?! WTF??

Am I missing something? Is there a way to do a simple video conference between a Mac and PC? Or is all I'm left with making fun of my mother for buying a Mac?

Oh, Macs are so easy to use, especially when it comes to multimedia. Yeah, right. :roll:

AIM, that's why aol hasn't come out with a mac client for a long time.

I'll try it, but I think we did try this last night. I don't know Macs at all, so I'm not sure what my mother was doing, but she said something about having a ".mac" account that she had chatted with my aunt (also on a Mac). She opened that program, and it had a choice between .mac or AIM account types, and she tried to conatct me, but it wasn't going through.

I don't know what she's doing either, i sign in iChat with my account and am able to talk to anyone using AIM

yeah i use Ichat no problems for video with aim
