I'm have a flatscreen IMac with OSX10.2.8 and my buddy loaned me the install disks for OSx10.4 from his power Mac. Can I updat my IMac using these diaks??? It has a 800 MHz PowerPC G4 with 512MB of Memory.
I don't want to screw up the IMac, it's a nice little computer and it's always run flawlessly, but my girlfriend just got a new Nano and it needs the latest ITunes to run which requires 10.3.9 to run.

Mac OS X Version 10.4 requires a Macintosh with:
* PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
* Built-in FireWire
* At least 256MB of physical RAM
* A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
* At least 3.0 GB of available space on your hard drive; 4GB of disk space if you install XCode 2 developer tools
* DVD drive for installation

Yeah, I saw that on the Apple website so I gave it a shot after backing some stuff up and it won't install. If the PowerMac the discs came with has an intel chip, does that mean the install disks won't work on a Mac with the old G4 chip?? I haven't found any info on Apple websites yet.

If you want me to send you the 10.3 discs so you can up date your iMac just send me a PM, I have an extra set. 10.3 will make it seem like a new computer over 10.2.
