I am building a house and I want to have it prewierd for 7.1 sound but have not picked out a system yet. I was thinking BOSE but a lot of reviews have been negative.

The only decision you have to make is where your amp/players/other av eqip will be. You can do all of the prewiring before the drywall and make your component decision later. Don't forget to run cat5e to rooms you would like to have ethernet connections in. Also, run extra cat5e to your tv location or your projector location going back to the control centre. These can be used for ethernet connections or basic low voltage controller wires.
I went through a similar thing this winter. If my house ever burns down, there will be so much fucking melted copper, I'll have to stand guard over the rubble.
Make sure your speaker wire is FT4 rated and that you use Plenum cat5e. If your inspector is a dick, he can have it all yanked even though they are all low voltage cables and do not technically need a UL certification.

Also, stay away from Bose. They make components for aesthetics and also have goofy wiring needs. Any best buy or high end audio company will sell you components that all have the same basic wiring structure. Bose is different and for the price you can achieve the same results with much less expensive equipment.

no bass? no treble? must be Bose.
Heh I always heard "No highs, no lows, must be Bose"
I've got a older 5.1 Denon system but the thing is the balls. I'd like to upgrade to a TrueHD receiver but I've got important things on the burner at the moment. I would highly recommend looking into a Denon system though...

i've got a denon 7.1 system that is a couple of years old and it freaking blows the ass off of any other surround system i've ever had. my entertainment center is a corner unit, so i bought a piece of corner molding to hide the speaker wires, which i ran through the ceiling and into the attic, then dropped the speaker wires back through the ceiling at the appropriate locations. can't see a wire anywhere.
