Trying not to spend much more than $800. I'll mainly use this as a secondary computer, for school and travel. Any recommendations? I've looked around on line but I'd like any advice you have to offer. Thanks!

If you're after a certain brand, HP/Compaq (Same company, HP) is definately the way to go, All computer's I've ever owned are/were HP or Compaq, this thing now is a compaq, and I've had absolutely no troubles with it.

I also would recommend sticking with windows XP if you do go for a laptop, cause with Vista there are a lot of incompatible modems with it, like no modem drivers for vista at all basically, so you wouldn't be able to access the net.. but I'd check that out first, just to make sure you can access the net, if that's what the laptop is for lol
