I'm thinking about getting a new ipod, mostly for music, but it would be nice to use the video portion of it for plane rides and things. Is it possible to rip DVDs to your hard drive and then transfer them to a video ipod? If so, about how much space does a typical movie (~2 hours) take up?

You'll need a program called Videora Ipod Converter.

How much space? It depends on the program, and quality you want it to be. I use Alive iPod Video Converter (great, and easy to use.) and I just have it set on "Small Size" so that the video quality is relatively good, and the size is kept low. Using this, a 2 hr movie could be from anywhere between 150-300 mb.

Hope that helps. :)

Awesome. I expected it to be bigger than that. I did just get my ipod last week, so maybe I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
