It's a sucky process. It will be hardest to do a straight up conversion with the entire DVD intact. You could rip off the video, and then use DVD Santa to slap it back on to a DVD in the right aspect ratio, but you would lose the menu structure. It would just be the video straight up.

yeah that's the thing, i want to keep the menus and all intact.
the frustrating thing is that a lot of people in the links i posted say it worked for them.

i don't even know, but is it illegal to convert? (like a region thing) or it just about different type of systems?

As far as I know, it's illegal to copy anything that's...copyrighted. Converting would technically be copying, I'd guess. Not even getting into the region issue.

well the dvd's i'm talking about are actualy live bootlegs (non pj). thankfully i'm not having any issues with regions anymore.
My only suggestion is to get a DVD player that plays PAL and NTSC DVDs. That's what I'm looking to do. I've found a few online for about $50 to $100, just haven't pulled the trigger. I keep checking local stores for models I've identified as being PAL and NTSC compatible.

yeah i might just do that as well. the ones you were looking at, are they region free?

That's what I've been doing with my laptop. I bought a 50$ cable to do it and now wish I just would have bought a new DVD player.
It really depends on your setup. I use one of my computers as a media computer. I will download TV shows and stuff like that and instead of wasting dozens of DVD's I just run the video feed from the computer to my TV and watch it that way. So for me, it makes a lot more sense to just watch PAL DVD's through the computer to the TV, because I already have it set up that way.

I hope to have a more permanent set-up just like that for downloaded TV shows and such that I don't want to burn to DVD or watch more than once.
