Not sure, but this seems like as good a place as any to tell you about the new Pioneer deck I got that connects right to the iPod, displays the track info, and lets you control it through the deck. Oh yeah, it charges it at the same time too. Fuckin' sweet.

Whats the model # of that deck? I've been looking at getting one for my card so I can plug my ipod in.

The cable is sold separately but I got one on ebay for like $25. Well worth every penny. The only thing that would be better is if the volume knob functioned like the scroll wheel on the iPod, but you have to click through your playlists using the buttons. If you've got a shitload of them, it takes time to get to the one you want. Other than that though it's gold.

Let's say that I don't want to get a new deck and just want to know a good converter, eh?

What kind of deck do you currently have? Does it have a line-in on it? Does it have CD Changer control? On my old Pioneer deck, it didn't have a line-in but I was able to buy a cable that converted the changer cable into RCAs.

I wouldn't mess with any of those FM transmitters. It's best to go line-in one way or another. And just so you know, you can find a new deck with a line in for cheap these days.

I have an FM transmitter and it's fabulous. If you're an audiophilist, I suppose you will want a direct line, but truthfully, an FM transmitter still sounds pretty fantastic, as long as you find a good open frequency, of which I've found plenty wherever I go.
Another bonus to using an FM transmitter is that you can get an adapter that lets you plug into a normal household outlet. Which means you can broadcast to ANY radio in your house, or at your buddy's house, or Hotel room, etc, making everything on your iPod instantly playable on any radio you happen to be around.

It's not for everyone, but I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly :)
