I think the reason why I have always had problems with torrents is that my router isn't set up properly to allow people to access torrents I have. My ratio is always terrible for sites I have belonged to (and have been banned from for this reason). I've heard things like port forwarding and NAT and shit, and I don't really know how to get it all set up so I can do this proper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I won't link to another place, instead I'll just quote the post I think would help you best..If you don't understand (I don't expect anyone to pick this all up quickly, it's a right pain in the arse.) just let me know and I'll give you the link to the topic.

ahh the NAT error. the quintessential problem for Azureus. it's no sweat, use ports 53000-63000 instead of the default. most people use this including myself. and another thing, make sure you've got your ports forwarded on your router and through your firewall and have both tcp and udp enabled.

OK so I forward my ports and set up the IP,DNS numbers etc and then I get all green arrows from u-torrent but then next time I turn on the computer it has all reset itself and I'm back to yellow. Is this normal? How do I get it to keep my settings?
Cheers

No its yellow on torrents which should still be active. Also if I look back in the network connections settings they have returned to their default values.
